PROPER JEWELRY CARE
| Hartoons.com HOME | DID YOU KNOW? |
Your jewelry should be regularly and professionally cleaned and checked for wear. At Hartoon Jewelers there is no charge for this service and it only takes a few minutes.
The value of professional cleaning is obvious, your jewelry is simply prettier. Regular inspection, however, is essential to prevent stone loss. The prongs that hold your beautiful diamonds and gemstones, particularly on rings, take a tremendous beating every day. Worn or bent prongs mean eventual stone loss if not discovered in time. A simple and economical prong repair will prevent the loss.
Some household chemicals, such as chlorine, can be damaging to your jewelry. We recommend that you not wear jewelry while cleaning house or swimming in chlorinated water.
Rubies, Diamonds, and Sapphires (remember red, white, and blue) are durable stones and may be cleaned in regular jewelry cleaner formulated for home use. However, stones such as Pearls, Opals, Emeralds, Turquoise, and Tanzanite should only be cleaned in a special jewelry cleaner formulated for delicate jewelry. If you are not sure what to do, let Hartoon Jewelers, or any professionally trained jeweler do it for you.
Silver cleaner is intended for silver only and should only be used as dip. Dip your silver jewelry quickly in and out and immediately rinse with cold water. Extremely tarnished silver may need to be dipped several times or professionally cleaned.
Always follow the directions and warnings on any jewelry cleaner or household product to prevent possible serious injury or death.
